    DefaultHi from sunny south Africa

Hi all, I'm a first time lab owner and made the mistake of getting 2 puppies at the same time (from the same litter) - So training my 2 chocolate labrador puppies has been an ongoing quest. It's getting better, but going slowly...

You'd be very right on that count - If this is going to go on for 18 - 24 months I might just go mad (Well, more crazy at any rate...)

cases have been reported where it's taken up to 6 years for the puppy to go from the lab! And some people on this site have labs older than that which are yet to settle down.

Do you have male or female puppies?

I have a male and a female. I started training them the moment I got them, so they are pretty obedient by now - I don't mind the puppy behaviuor so much (they are mostly manageable when I'm around) but when I leave, they chew on absolutely everything...

I've heard about the frozen mushy Kongs - but pumpkin? I'll definately try that this weekend.

And yes, I will definately get the puppies de-sexed. I got them from a person that wasn't planning on breeding with his dogs. I took them because I know the parents and they are absolutely beautiful dogs (Both in appearance and temperament).

Yes! Boil some pumpkin till it's mash-able, mash it without adding anything (maybe water if you need to) wait till it cools, stuff and freeze your kongs and serve frozen! You won't hear a peep out of them for (hopefully!) a WHOLE hour... it's genius really!!

Can't wait to see pictures of your little pups! I love choccy lab puppies, they're just so CUTE!
