I stumbled across your blog after losing my yellow lab, Luke this past week. He was a local rescue and had cancer. I found the Rainbow Bridge blog so helpful! In times like this you feel as if you are the only person suffering...that you are the "crazy dog lady"....
Well I do have another lab, thank God, named Reese. She is pure dark chocolate and just turned 4 the end of April (That's when I adopted her from a wonderful breeder). She has been such a wonderful addition to the house. She also is a breast cancer survivor, 2 1/2 years now!
For anyone interested, I volunteer with Labs4Rescue a wonderful organization out of CT. I have fostered labs until they found their forever homes. I guess my give back to society!
If you are in the Central NJ area, L'Oreal hosts "Because your Dog is Worth it Too" Day each year. It is an awesome event, where all of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Check out the site. This year it will be on Saturday August 16th. I will be running the Labs4Rescue booth.
Again thank you for this opportunity to get to know other Lab parents out there!
I'm glad to see so many NJ Lab Folk out there! This forum has truly brought me a greater sense of family and healing than you would ever know...It is just wonderful to meet people so that I am not the only one in the world known as the "Crazy Lab Lover"!
