hello: I recently got my now almost 10 weeks old black lab from a breeder in pleasanton California, Cuzco had his first class at petco today and it was good mostly because he got to play a little with other dogs and I also learned a few new ways to train him. I had two questions, sometimes when I call him he will look at me and hesitate to walk towards me for a while and then he will keep looking at me and I can see that he is very cautions ( he moves a little forward and then moves back) is that normal? Is he afraid of me? :-( I love him and I am scared I am doing somthing wrong, please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the Forum. We are in Southern California! Would love to see pics of your puppy. Has he had all of his shots? Many people don't recommend taking them around other puppies until they have all shots. I am not sure, you might want to check with your vet. I am sure he is not scared of you. He is just getting to know you and his environment. It is a lot for a little guy. Congrats on your new puppy. You might also want to post this question in the training section. Lots of members visit there and I am sure they can offer some very valuable advice!
hello, thanks for the reply, yeah i think you are right and i think cuzco is still getting to know me :-) I am a little worried about the thing you mention about his shots, he has had 2 sets of shots (both with parvo vaccine) and his 3rd round of shots is in 2 weeks, the trainer asked us to bring our paper work and said he would be fine to be in the class, but i am worried now that he might get something, today he seemed normal, ate, played etc, i just dont want him to get sick, i have kept him in my house since i got him and just took him today to his class and to hangout with other dogs for the first time, what do you guys think? should i go to the vet?
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum from NJ. Yes, I would hold off public places where other dogs congrate until he is fully vaccinated. Too risky otherwise. Not everyone who has a dog vaccinates them and all dogs are welcome there - no health clearances needed to walk in the door with Fido to shop. Be cautious and wait a little longer.
Nice to have you and cuzco here!
