    DefaultI'm a newbie...need info

My best friend, Jackson, started limping. Saw the vet today and was told the Jackson has an ACL tear. We are scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon in ten days. It's his rt. rear leg. Anyone have any info on what jackson has to look forward to? Is surgery going to help? or help drain my wallet? He's a 7.5yr old yellow and the best friend I could ever have. How successful is surgery? What is recovery like? thanks

    Welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about Jackson's ACL. I would suggest posting in "Lab Chat" or "Lab Health". There is MUCH more traffic there (especially in Lab Chat) so you are much more likely to get some good information there.

    Good luck.

    Ditto to posting over there.

But. I will tell you that many many people have had that surgery done for their dogs and the dogs had many more pain free years because of it. From what I understand, it is VERY important to follow ALL of the vet's specifications with regard to post-op care, including severely limiting exercise for weeks after the surgery.

    Good luck!
