I'm very excited to have found this community. I am a mom of three boys ages 9 to 13 living in southern California.
About four years ago we tried having a golden retriever puppy. I wasn't ready and he only lasted till he was nine months with us. Giving him up devastated my eldest boy. I DONT want to go through that again and so I am doing my homework and being as prepared as possible.
We are getting a black lab. She was rescued with her family a few weeks ago by a family friend. The pups were emaciated but they had a great vet to help them recover. She is healthy now at 8 weeks.
I'm going to name her "Daisy".
I'm thrilled to have a "girl" of my own since my husband and I couldn't figure out how to make one ourselves.
I'm getting my list together of "essential" equipment.
There is so much helpful information here. I look forward to "meeting" you all and learning as much as I can about how to care for my little girl.
Welcome to the Forum. I have a black girl who is now 17 months old. We are adding a chocolate boy to our family ~ he will come home January 18th. I am looking forward to sharing 'baby' stories with you! ;D
Welome, hope you have better luck this time around. Labs tend to be as hyper as goldens, though, until they are around two years old. You will need a crate.
Welcome! We are in So. Cal too! You will find lots of great info here!
Thanks for the welcome. I fully intend to crate train. We have moved to a home with a great backyard and lots of room for the two of us to play.
I have been reading a great deal and we are prepared for the big 3's: exercise, discipline and affection.
It seems like we are much more likely for success this time now that I've learned to lower my expectations. We are going to invest a great deal of time and effort into helping our little one grow up to be well behaved.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Welcome from WI; great to have you on the board.
How exciting bringing a new little one home; we can't wait to see pics!
Lucky you! I won`t be getting my baby boy til mid or end of January. It`ll be fun swapping baby stories!
