Hello everyone, My wife and I just purchased our very first puppys. a chocalate lab as well as a yellow. We are trying to find out all that we can in the next 7 weeks before we take them home. Any advice?
check out "our best advice" in the training/puppy forum
start asking around for referrals to veterinarians and puppy obedience schools.
stock up on toys, treats, patience, leash and collar, a crate, some more patience and your sleep.
some reading suggestions:
Pat Miller's Power of Positive Dog Training
Patricia McConnell's "For the Love of a Dog" and "The other end of the Leash"
Jean Donaldson's "Culture Clash"
Ian Dunbar's "How to teach a new dog old tricks"
and post pictures when you have some!
oops.. didn't realize you were getting two at the same time.. yikes! Double everything on my list then, except for the patience.. you're going to need 10 times of that....
first time and you are getting TWO! Wow! you are a brave soul
Charlie (foster) and Rocky
Congrats cant wait to see pictures.
Patience, patience and a little more patience! Oh and lots of love!

I have a lovebird that gets along with my lab puppy well. Baloo is actually a little afraid of him, as he is a bossy little bird.Originally Posted by Nobile

That makes me feel alot better. Thanks for all the help I have gotten already, and I'm sure I will be looking for plenty more help in the coming weeks
Welcome from WI; great to have you on the board.
We'd luv to see pics when you get them - I can't even imagine 2 at a time - best of luck to you!!
