I rescued a lab puppy about 3 weeks ago. She was living in a bird cage on the streets and was in poor shape. She's doing much better now and is currently 14 weeks old (I got her at 11 weeks old). She's been to the vet twice now for her boosters and only has one more visit in 3 more weeks. My concern is that she's very small. She only weighs in at 16.5 pounds at 14 weeks old. I'm not sure if her low weight could be due to having tapeworms up until about 2 weeks ago or if maybe she's just mixed with something smaller. She looks just like a lab except for her ears are rather fluffy and she has somewhat longer fur. Any comments would be helpful!
I don't think that 16 1/2 lbs. is so small at that age, she may surprise you in 6 months.
Thanks for taking her in, she's a cutie.
She's not so small. My purebred, papered boy (meaning I know for sure he is all Lab) weighed 17 pounds at 14 weeks. It's kind of fun when they aren't purebred to guess at what the mix might be. You (and we because you will keep showing us photos, right? Please? ) will be able to guess better when she is full grown. Behaviour can tell a lot too. Like, if she shows a tendency to want to herd there might be some herding breed in a mix but she could still look all Lab.
She's up to 22 pounds now at 16 weeks. She's an energetic thing! She likes to chew on anything she can get her teeth on. She also likes to chase down her duck toy like her life depends on it haha. Here's some more pictures of her now.
I have no idea. But you really did a good thing to rescure her.
