    DefaultIntroduction

    Hi Everyone,

My name is Lisa. I am from Orangeville Ontario. I love that I get to be part of this forum. I can see myself using this to get ideas for my lab puppy. Our new family member is 17weeks old now and we are loving him. My kids just absolutely adore Boomer and I can say that he absolutely adores them too. At his 16 week check he weighed in at 30.4lbs (think he is going to be a big dog - or so everyone says based on his paws). We get stopped often by people wanting to pet him because of his beautiful colouring, soft green/light eyes, and his exuberant personality. We are often asked "what breed is he?" because the colouring throws them off. I am very excited to be part of this group and hearing about all the other labs!

    Lisa (& Boomer)

You mean he's a yellow. Fox red is a shading of yellow. He must also be chocolate pigmented if he has light eyes.

If he's ~30# at 16 wks, I really wouldn't call that big. Roughly double his weight at 4mos (so given a 2-3#/ wk weight gain, let's just say he's 33# now) that'll only put him at ~66# as an adult.

I do agree with that rule of thumb, but wondered at what age do they hit their adult weight?

Depends on the lines. Mine (now) not until ~2 yrs old but when I had more field lines it was earlier.
I prefer the slower to grow lines for so many reasons...
