hello everyone, I just took in a lab about 5 years old. (we dont know how old he is because he was a stray.) My friends took in this abandoned dog almost a year ago, but they could not afford to take care of him anymore so I took him in. He is a really awesome dog; obedient, super calm, behaves well on walks, car rides and even bathes! his favorite thing to do is lay by me and be petted. He even goes in his kennel without any problem when i tell him too. Unfortunately he is only like that when he is with someone. (He has severe separation anxiety) The first time he was left at home alone, he took the wooden trim off from around the door. (he has a history of being destructive when left alone) I started kennel training him, and he was doing good untill one random time he broke out. since then he started breaking out almost every time i leave him.
I always walk him before going to work, give him a treat for going in his kennel, leave music on for him, a bone and a KONG toy with penut butter that he loves. I even have a scensy thing plugged into the wall that is supposed to calm anxiety. I would just leave him in the house but he destroys everything and messes if I do. This behavior is hard for me to train because it only arrises when im not there.... If someone could help me i would greatly appreciate it!
have you tried leaving a t-v on, cover the crate partially, with a thin cotton sheet?
have you tried any homeopathic things like rescue remedy?
i have except for that las one. i haven't heard of it?
What type of kennel are you using?
