Just joined the forum and figured I'd say hello. My family will hopefully be getting a lab puppy in about 8 weeks. The litter should be born within the week. My wife and I had a yellow lab years ago but we were young and did a poor job training him which in turn led to a poor experience in dog ownership. This time around we plan on making the right decisions regarding the dog and I plan on learning as much as I can about labs.
Let us know what you get
And lots of pic'sif you can
I am glad I am not the only new expecting owner this week!
I know there are probably more modern books about raising a Lab...but, I always go back to a book called "Water Dogs" by Richard Wolters. He was one of the first trainers to stress early training. Labs generally are so smart, once they "learn to "learn", the skies the limit... I've really had a lot of success with it. I'm on Lab #3 in my life. There were all special, but different in their own ways. Good luck on the start of your journey!
