Hey y'all I just recently got my first pup and registered here for some guidance!
I am currently crate training my 12 week pup Thor. How long do y'all think he will be housebroken?
Admittedly, not being able to sleep at night (crying at night/taking him out to potty) paired with going to school is starting to catch up to me physically and mentally (a little tired!!).
Also, I have carpet so it's a little more tough to clean as I have to find the spots I think he eliminated and soak it with Nature's miracle as opposed to wooden floors.
I can't wait for him to be able to run free around the house without having to worry. I am constantly supervising him like a hawk when I am there, and crate him when I am busy. Do you guys have any advice?
This is a great article on house training:

It says 6 months before fully house trained, but it sounds like you are doing all the right things. My pup is coming in two weeks. I'm also getting a play den for him. You may want to consider using a play den as well as the crate. My plan is to just bond with pup from 8-12 weeks just playing with him and creating that tight bond with the family. But I'll start training at 12 weeks. Let's see what the experts say. Is this your first dog or first Lab?
My new pup is 15 weeks old and I am pleasantly surprised how well he took to the crate. We got him when he was 14 weeks and he only whined for a little bit the first night we took him home. He is house broken for the most part, but he does pee every now and then. Like you mentioned we have to watch him like a hawk. I've been given my pup treats when he does take the initiative to go outside on his own. Always praise them when they do this as well. Good Luck!
