Well, not a true noob, but to this forum? Yes. Haha

I'm Zabrina, my family and I are the new proud owners of an 11 week old female chocolate lab, Dixie. Original, huh? Haha

This is a first, lab, for my husband and our kids. I, on the other hand, grew up with my grandfathers hunting labs. We also had an "english" lab of our own growing up. He was quite the goobery beast and I miss him like crazy. I was actually hoping to find an adult dog to bring into our home, as I'm expecting again. Really wasn't keen on juggling a 4yr old, 7 mo old and being pregnant. But my husband talked me into going to "just look" at a local pup. That was pretty much the end of that.

My husband was instantly set on the chocolate pup. I really wanted to get a feel for all of them and pick which pup would fit our home best. I guess we were lucky the chocolate one had the right energy level for us. I admit it has been a while since I've had a pup. I can say that I'm pleasantly reminded how sharp Labradors are. Aside from discovering a UTI, house training has been going AWESOME. House training wasn't started before we got her. Along with many other things but the little whip is catching on fast. We've only had Dixie for 4 days, and while she needs a lot of work (clearly never had a leash or been too far from home) she is catching on quick. I'm actually excited to work with her and see what we can accomplish together. I'm also thrilled my kids will get to grow up with such a sweet dog.

I'm looking forward to talking and getting to know the people of this forum.

    Thanks for the welcome!

dstyer65: Round Hill?! I was just up there for my best friends sisters wedding. <3 that area. I also use to have a Welsh Corgi. Long story short, he came from a family member who wanted some basics on him. Ended up staying with us to really work through some things. Finally found him an appropriate home without kids. Miss the lil buggar.

Its nice here but getting way too crowded! Was the wedding at White Hall? I love your area much better! Although, there are vineyards popping up everywhere here! I'm very blessed with my corgi. He's been the best dog I've ever had. My true best friend. Good luck with your new girl! My pup is a lot of fun!

Silverbrook Farms is where it was at. Such a beautiful place. I really wish our little corgi hand't been abused. He was such an awesome dog. But he is in THE perfect home now and sooooo much more happy.
