From Canada, Alberta,
Hi to everyone readying. I thinkg this forum will be a great resource for years to come.
My wife and I just purchased our first family dog "Otis", which my kids (4 & 2) adore.
Otis is a yellow lab currently 8.5 weeks.
We had him checked at the vet for overall health and he has mites (ones that cannot be seen under microscope) which really is disappointing.
I was sure I did the reasearch finding a good breeder, but I guess not.
Anyway he seems to be a smart dog, absolutely handsome as anything you ever seen.......all that puppy stuff....
My only concern now is his treatment for mites, and getting his meal intake up to par with the recommendations (he is not skinny but doesn't seem to eat near what is suggested.)
Will try and get pictures posted later.
Welcome and congratulations on your new puppy! If you are talking about the feeding recommendations on a bag of dog food, don't even worry about it. If everyone fed what the manufacturer said to feed there would be many more over weight dogs than there already are in this world. Your breeder should have given you guidelines on what your puppy should be eating. It would be best to call your breeder and ask this question.
