    DefaultNew "Shlab" mommy

Flap.jpg Flap (Flapjack) and I are new to the site.

He is an 8 month shepard/yellow lab mix, and a handful! He is super smart, handsome and I love him to death! I think I over-estimated how much dog I could handle though, He is super energetic, chews everything and is stubborn.

I hope to get advice and tips to help me get through this phase. I got him to be a therapy dog for myself, but he is actually causing more stress a lot of the time. And yes, I have two kids (girls). One is 20, and the other 13. So you would think I would be used to stress!!

I think the first step in fixing this is admitting you may be over your head and he's a bit too much to handle. If so, I think the only recourse is to get some professional training to help you both out. If you're not able to be alpha over him and really dominate him in order to change behaviors, he will take full advantage. A professional trainer can teach you and he at the same time. I also think you should do this much sooner then later. A private trainer would probably be best. I think I and so many here can give you things to do yourself, but because he's a bit too much you would get frustrated. Many people are the same, just need some guidance and help from the pros.

    Welcome to the group.
Flapjack is a great looking dog !
I own a german shepherd/yellow lab mix as well that definitely has more of a lab look to her.
    I call her a Gello
If you work with these dogs they are amazing receptive to training and pleasing their owner.
Mine amazes me all the time with how smart she is.
    Again, welcome.
