Hello my name is Marjorie/Castlady
I've had a lab in my life since was 13 years old Beau my childhood lab lived to be 13 years and formed my forever love affair with labs. I did dog obedience with Beau and dog show with 4-H. I was newlywed with a young baby when Beau passed. I waited till my son was 4 to get another lab. We got Coco he was a black lab with lots of energy. My husband and son were into baseball Coco was the team mascot. Coco would shag all the balls in the out field that the boys missed , our practice field's had no fences. When Coco was 4 he took off after a ball as he had a million times before, he slipped on the grass and ruptured his ACL. The vet scheduled surgery the following week and sent us home with Rimadyl. The Rimadyl killed my dog, he went into kidney failure and died 3 days later. We were devastated with a knee jerk reaction we got a puppy the same week just to make my son smile again. We took the first lab we found it was a back yard breeder with all the good intentions. The first 3 years were great , the Tank went blind from Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA. Nothing could be done to correct his visions. We had a good life with Tank we despite the loss of visions. He trusted us full to keep him safe and we never broke that trust. We adopted a yellow lab Sampson from a rescue to help Tank when we were not there to safely get around. The two worked great together. Once Tank became confident again he did not need Sampson so much. Sampson bonded with my now teenage son. Tank was my new shadow I was never any where without a beautiful shiny happy black lab on my heels. Tank exhibited the word LOVE. Sadly we lost Tank at the beginning of February to liver cancer, he was 11 years old. He will forever be loved!
We will happily get another lab because nothing replaces the wet nosed love of a lab. Once you've had it its like air you can't go without. I was thinking maybe Chocolate, never had one of boys.(all dogs have been boys)
