After lurking for the past four weeks my wife and I have finally registered. For the past month we've been consumed by a 6 month old chocolate lab named Rosie. Long story short, her previous owner was not able to care for her properly and could not put in the time. We jumped at the chance to "inherit" her. She is a handful but we cannot deny those wonderful eyes.
From crate misadventures to a current diarrhea issue that just might be on the mend, this place has been a great source of information. We look forward to interacting with all of you and sharing some of our experiences with Rosie.
Here's a picture of Rosie:
And congrats !
Welcome - she is very cute!

Yes those eyes sure speak volumes. You won't regret the time spent. Be sure to get her good toys to chew so that she does not chew your things. If you have specific questions we will be happy to share our experiences with you. The latest problem is probably from something she ate. Quick change of food or something off the table with spice in it. They love a bite from your plate but they cannot do spice or additives.
Good luck and welcome

Rosie is beautiful! When Gertie gets a bit older, we should do a lab meet-up!

We went up to visit family in NJ this weekend with Rosie as our co-pilot. She did great in the car. She also met four new dogs and get along great. She's a bit of an attention monger and jumps when people but we're working on her with that. She is walking a lot better on the leash though!
We're still doing a bland diet of rice, chicken and yogurt and it has brought her stools back to normal. We're pretty sure the culprit was the change in kibble. She came to us with Purina Puppy Chow and over the course of a week we tried to transition her over to Earthborn Holistic's Puppy Vantage. Now that her stool is normal we plan on keeping her on the bland food and slowly incorporating the Earthborn once again, at about 1/4 cup for 3-4 day period to see how she does.
