Hi, my name is John and would like to introduce Moby. Moby is 11 and was born on April 29th, 2001. He is my best friend (and I think even my fiance is okay with that at this point) and has been with me through a lot of changes in my life. At times when he is doing his dreaming "ruff ruff" legs motoring thing, I think he's dreaming of chasing dogs and protecting me.
Moby is a very big American lab, and maybe a month ago, tipped the scales at 93lbs. He is very long and tall and has a good waistline. Not that he's vain or anything, but he definitely isn't overweight going by the "site inspection." That said, he's getting up there, it's cold out here (where I live it's colder than usual), and he's definitely feeling the arthritis/hip issues that I knew would come. So we are working on adding some supplements, keeping good exercise, but taking a little off the portions.
I am attaching a picture of Moby from a few years back. He's not embarrassed now that he's a graybeard, but this shows his personality - trying to tell me that computer work isn't the only important thing to do during the day. That is, there is also throwing the ball and going to the beach.
I am on the forum now because I want to gather all the wisdom I can as my friend enters the later stages of his life. I want to be positive and see how I can help Moby stay healthy, help others, be supportive, and be the best friend I can to Moby.
Initially, I am going to be posting on arthritis and hip health, and to understand where Moby is and what I can do to make sure he's happy. That said, on to the health part of the forum!
Answered another post from you, just wanted to say

Here is my 11 yr old Buddy !

And I still think he's a handsome guy at 11. He's just got that Simba thing going on now (graybeard = wisdom)
