DefaultReputable Breeder in PA, OH, WV area

    Hello:

I am new to forums and in search of a reputable breeder in the PA, OH, WV area. I have owned Labs in the past and would like to find a very high caliber, reputable, and responsible breeder of mainly a companion Lab with obedience/service potential. Thanks in advance.

    Here are some links:

Find a Breeder - The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc.

Regional Club Directory - The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. (with the clubs, find one near you, see if they have a web site, and then find a breeder/member listing)

Remember, parents need all clearances (OFA hips, elbows, heart, annual eye exam, eye test for PRA, EIC and CNM testing as well). ALL CLEARANCES. Seriously. Not just hips and eyes. ALL.

You also want a breeder that proves their dogs through shows or events. Dog shows if you are looking for a traditional looking lab. Performance events if you prefer the leaner hunting style lab.

You do not want to be taken in by flashy websites and boasting about champion pedigrees of grandparents. The parents need to be doing something.

    Good luck.

I know a couple people on this forum have dogs from Folklaur in PA. I also suggest Chilbrook in WV, Debby Kay, I have not seen her dogs in person but have talked over email, and she has had many dogs go on to become service dogs. As with any breeder make sure the clearances are in order, but IMO these two are true experts in the Labrador breed.

I have also.heard wonderful things about Folklaur as well as Rambo Run in PA. I do not have any personal experience with either breeder but have heard wonderful things. Good luck in your puppy search!

Rambo Run has a Grand Champion bitch who is my Blaise's littermate. She just had a litter. He has nice dogs and while he is newish, he is doing it right. My breeder is his mentor.
