Red faceThis is Molly (not a purebred but has some lab in her!)

I've posted in another part of the forum but thought I would make it a proper introduction! We recently adopted a lab mix from a local no kill shelter. she's not a pure bred but she definitely has some lab in her.

Her pound name is Moab. We changed it to Molly! I had wanted a dog for years and years but due to work, life, etc it was never conducive to having one. Now that I am a homeowner and my son is 12, it seemed like a good time. Spent a couple months reading and looking. I knew I didn't want a young puppy as the dog will need to be crated while I am at work though I will come home at lunch.

We are located near Asheville, NC. Thursday we were at a great local rescue called Brother Wolf. To be honest, I wasn't really interested in getting a lab but my son saw her and we asked for more information. She had been found on a hiking trail in Linville Gorge which is a national forest area. The person that found her took her in and did some great work with her but couldn't keep her. She is house and crate trained. She does great on a leash and knows sit, shake, and lie down.

We took her for a walk and she was wonderful. Her training really showed and it was obvious she was the one for us.

So now it is Saturday and we have already taught her 'drop it' and 'got to bed'. Just got her an antler to chew on as she is a enthusiastic chewer. I have to say I've been smitten and really love her!

Congratulations on the new member of the family. She looks happy.

Well done for the rescue ! Seems that she is fitting in beautifully.

Are you crating her while you are at work ?

She is doing great. Today we learned "stay" in about 10 minutes. Reinforcing that and working on "go bed".

I will be crating her when I go to work until she is good to leave out. I have left her in the crate progressively longer each day. I will walk her at lunch.

She's a pretty girl! About how old do they think she is? She looks to have quite a lot of labby in her. Welcome to the forum!

Congrats! She looks like my first dog, Radar, who was a black lab mix. He was svelte like she seems to be! I hope she's as wonderful a dog as Radar was.
