Hey there. My husband and I just adopted Riggins, a 7 month old yellow lab, from a shelter. We brought him home Thursday night and he knew next to nothing in the way of training. Now, 4 days later, he already has learned SIT! My husband and I are in love with him, are both first time dog owners, and are having so much fun learning how to train him and give him the best life possible. He seems so happy to have been rescued and loves his new forever family already. He joined our other pet, a cat named Fievel, and the two brothers are getting along fine.
Well done with the rescue !
You are in the best place if you have any problems - just shout !

Riggins is one of the lucky ones. My first tip to you is keep everything mouth size out of his reach. They will put absolutely everything in their mouth and many things will go down. When unsupervised this is really important so they don't choke or get something in the stomach that will cause problems. When Jack was this age I was constantly fishing things out of his mouth. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your pup. He will be such a joy to your lives. Is that wallpaper or paint on the wall. Looks good.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
Welcome! He's a lovely dog!
