Hi My name is Paityn,
I just got a 7 1/2 week old black lab, my partner and I named him Gunner. My goal is to train him as a service dog, so this site will be extremely helpful in this process. Gunner's parents were both police dogs, so I thought he would be a good fit. He's already learned to sit, and we're working on laying down. The only big issue is how to socialize him without him having all of his shots. Also, he's really mouthy and I'm not sure how to approach this when socializing him. How long does this mouthing stage last and what should I do to help break him of it.
Welcome! Depends on the dog. Laci was rarely ever mouthy. I'll let others answer your questions, but welcome to the forum.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
hey even im facing with hunter. He is too mouthy is there any way to train him not to do that
Mouthiness is a topic of dozens of posts on the puppy segment of the forum. Either check through that segment or do a search and you'll get a lot of advice. Mouthiness is normal for any puppy but particularly for Labs. It's not aggression.
On training a service dog, you should concentrate on obedience classes when he's old enough and then work with your trainer on more advanced skills.
On the socialization, take him to safe places (not frequented by other dogs) and keep him off the floor at the vet or pet stores. If you know someone who has a safe fully vaccinated dog, you can socialize him with that dog. He can't go to dog parks at this age.

Welcome. Looking forward to photos of your pup.
