    DefaultNew guy from Oklahoma

Hi there, just joined the forum. I am from Oklahoma city. Currently looking for the right breeder to get my new furrbaby from. Pretty dead set on a labrador, I had to put my 14 year old Mini Schnauzer down about 7 months ago and i think im ready for a new member of the family. I still think about him every day but i think im ready for another dog, and I have thought about it and the same breed although great dogs i think would be too hard on me. I think a lab would be suitable for me since i love to hunt so much, can dedicate the time to get him the exercise he needs, and I am confident he will be great with kids which my fiance and I will be trying for within the next year or two. I look forward to learning more about the breed as i look for the right pup. I think we are going to go for a chocolate, I love the color and they arent quite as common. Well thats about all for now.

Welcome to the forum! I am a labby lover! We are all labby lovers here and think our doggies are the best breed ever! Many of us have had multiple labs and have never regreted it!. They are great family dogs. They need to be with their people. They love children, although can be a little mouthy when they are babies. Labs stay puppies till they are about 2 yrs old. They require lots of exercise. We lost our 12 yr old last may and it about killed us! We found our sweet Sophie and brought her home in June. She really helped with the grieving process... Good luck with finding a breeder. Make sure you check all the health clearances. Steveandginger are members here, and are from Norman, and found a good breeder. They might be able to point you in the right direction.

thanks for the welcome. I will look into maybe getting into contact with them. Thats the hard part is finding a breeder that has done all the health checks and has pups or even is expecting.

    Welcome,
Labs are wonderful dogs but require lots of time and attention. They are certainly worth the effort Hope you find that special pup that is just right for you. Let us know how your search is going.

Welcome! We've just acquired a chocolate ourselves and love her! If she's any indication of what the breed is like, I'm not sure why it took me so long to get one. I'm sure you'll love yours when you get it. Good luck in the selection process.

    to JL.
I waited 8 years after my beloved Westie died before getting another dog. I'd never had a Lab before and I can honestly say my one regret is that I waited so long.
Keep us posted on your puppy search.
