    DefaultHello from Oklahoma

    Hello everyone!
My name is Stephanie and I have an 11 week old lab named Maximus. I am planning to train Maximus to be an animal assisted therapy dog. He loves meeting new people and snuggling. Eventually, he will visit nursing homes, libraries, elementary schools and more. Maximus will visit these people to help them feel better if they are depressed or just so they can have the company. He starts puppy classes in a week and can get his therapy dog certification after he turns one year old. We are excited to join the forum!

    Stephanie,
Wow you have great plans for Maximus. Will you be attending these places with him or will he do this with other people when you are at work somewhere else? What colour is Maximus? Welcome to the forums.

    Judy and Jack,
I will be going with him. I am currently in school to get my nursing degree and I thought this would be a great thing to do on the side since I love dogs. My school is getting together an animal assisted therapy group. AKC considers Maximus a 'yellow' lab. The breeder I got him from said they are 'polar white'. I would say he is off-white with a darker colored stripe going down the middle of his back.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

    Stephanie,
That is a very honourable profession. I am sure that you and Maximus will be very encouraging to these patients. I hope that Maximus buys in to your plan. He should he is a lab. We are waiting for photos.
