Does anyone have this problem...my Yellow Lab nibbles on us like he is eating corn on the cob. We rescued him from a shelter and not sure if it's a nervous habit or a sign of stress, since we don't know what his life was like before. The vet seems to think he is around 1-2 years old. Any suggestions?
Koivu does this sometimes too, though usually just to my BF since he tends to rough house with him more. He did it to me for the first time the other day, I just gave him a loud Ow! and he backed off, put his head in my lap and gave me the sad lab eyes. With him it seems to be an excitement factor that gets him going.
Bentley did that two when we got him from the scary pound. I just walked him more and he got his favorite toys : Kong, tennis ball, pull rope. It just destracts him.
~It doesn't matter how smart the dog is,it matters how smart the owner is.
sometimes, it's their kissing. but a loud NO should eventually do the trick. substitute your body part with a toy.
Toby does it but is so gentle that it is like a love gesture ........... never hurts ............ he also does it to the cat and Tigger loves it.... he actually comes looking for it we call it corn nibbling
We call it corn nibbles/nibbling too. The dogs do it to each other, and they do it to the cat, and occasionally, to us. I see it as a sign of affection.
If you don't like him doing it, just tell him no, or gentle, and place his attention elsewhere. Giving him a soft toy to corn nibble on instead might work well too.
Me, Abzilla and the Helomonster.

We call it corn nibbles too. Bauer only does it to me, an only my ears. I like it, but I'm weird. He knows what "enough" means, and he stops as soon as I say it. It is sometimes embarrassing when we have company and my dog is nibbling my ears.

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
