    Yep, I've worked Diesel like that, with pigeons. I haven't been able to do it as often as I'd like, since there's no place around here to buy them, and I have to trap them myself. He'll get flyers, which he'll chase and learn that "no, you don't get to retrieve every bird". I'll tell him "stop" and "no bird", and bring him back in. And, he gets wing clipped birds, that he can chase down and bring back to me.

    It is a lot of fun. It's great to watch them learn new things. When hunting, I actually get as much pleasure out of watching the dog or dogs work as I do from the actual hunting.

    This is so true. Just being out with the dogs, whether hunting or training, is a good day. It is uncanny that both of ours can be sleeping soundly but just let us grab the duck calls & whistles & they come running. They know what is going to happen.

    It's the same thing here. Whether it's exercise and training or we're going hunting, all I have to do is stop at the end of the kitchen counter where his e-collar and the lanyard lay, and he's amped up and ready to go!
