    QuestionBird Tracking

    Hello all,

I have trained German Shorthairs in the past. I have a 9 month old Lab/Shorthair mix and decided to to try something. I got some Pheasant wings from a sporting goods store. I let him mouth the wings for a minute, then took it away. I had him sit and stay where he could not see me, and hid it in the yard (not in plain sight) I released him and told him to find the bird. To my surprise, he found it very fast! He picked it up, and brought it right back to me.

I guess my question is, is this normal for a Lab?

Yep, totally normal. Diesel goes nuts for anything that smells like pheasant. And swimming too? Just loves it.
