Ok my boy does not have an otter tail that I can tell. Is this a huge fault or a small ding on him?
thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
Do you plan on showing him?
I wanted to try just for fun. I think it would be fun to get out there and show him. Win or lose he is still my baby
If your going to show him, I suggest you take him to matches. Some show people may find it offensive to show a non show dog at an akc event.
The otter tail is a pretty big requirement. If everything else is great, that might not count off too much, but tail is important.
Oh ok, I think there is a fun match here in Sacramento every year I plan to try to go to handling classes here and maybe try to find a mentor to bounce questions off. I dont want to offend anyone.
No one will be offended if your dog doesn't have an ottertail. Gosh...you would think we all have perfect Labs and are snobs. C'mon now. Go have fun with your boy at the match. A good person to speak to regarding mentoring would be your breeder. Is he/she involved in showing their dogs?
can we see a picture of what you think an otter tail is or is not on your boy.tails are important and should be fully wrapped or clothedOriginally Posted by SacLab
For the breed ring...or for someone breeding yes. Ideally all Labs should possess the otter tail. However, if you are not breeding or showing your dog it doesn't *really* matter.Originally Posted by Bluesouthlabradors
I was going to show him but in my other thread it was pointed out he wont win So we may hit some fun matches and I dont plan to breed him either.
