Just received a letter from our national Retriever Club that they need a photo of the old boy for the Year Book since he was Top Dog 2006. Suddenly my heart lurched and I grabbed my camera. It hit me like a sledge hammer: how many more days will we have where we can photograph this special boy? He is now nine and a half years old - time to admit that he can no longer get better, his show days are counted and we need photos NOW! Maybe Sharon feels the same way about Clint? Anyway, watching him react to Dan's baiting tore at my heart strings, he lives to make us happy, he can still out-move everything in the ring and he's one of those dogs I can't imagine as an old man! Here is one of the photos:
These two were taken this summer also. Which do you prefer… and why ?
Thanks a lot for your opinions and, if you don't like any, please feel free to say so.
I like the first one. He looks happy and it is a nice shot of him. Handsome guy!
The tree in the 2nd one is distracting...it looks like it is coming up from his back. The 3rd one looks like he was still willing to freebait for ya he was almost done for the day. LOL!
The way you describe him is how I always described Sass. She was out winning in the show ring until she was 11 YO. I wish you many more happy times with him!
I really like the first one too... ;D Handsome man, he is.
First one. His head looks the best in it, IMO.
The first one is great!!!!
First one, he looks so happy and handsome
Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten. - Cree prophecy
How nice JP!!!
Definitly not the second. I would definitely lean toward the first because his tail is up and he is giving you a softer expression with that relaxed, happy tongue...he also looks beautifully balanced and square there

I'd like the second photo with the background of the first.
Give the old gent a kiss from across the way! He's my favorite for sure!
Definitely #1 for the same reasons Peggy mentioned. That is the greatest picture.

No contest, the first one for sure! It shows his lovely kind, happy, wanting to please expression. Toby stunning boy.
I agree with the comments on the second photo and I also think he looks better with his head up a bit more like it is in the first photo. He looks kind of beaten in the last pic but it is a great body shot.
Now where are some photos of that baby of yours?
