DefaultHow important is weight in the ring?

My girl is nearly 7 months old. We are getting ready for a match at the beginning of March, and then some real shows soon afterwards. Anyway, she doesn't look heavy, but I know her weight is already close the the weight range set forth in the standard, and she's got some growing to do. Now compared to the other labs in her conformation class, she looks much lighter. So, how important is this really? She looks fit, so should I worry?

If she looks fit, I wouldn't worry about her weight. Some have a lot more "bone" than others, which in turn can make them much heavier than others with less "bone" (substance of the internal "structure").

Don't worry about the weight unless she is carrying too much and not looking fit.

Overall fit is the most important, so don't worry about it!

Well, here is a picture of her from our practice last night. She's going through an akward stage, but I don't think she looks as heavy as she feels And the picture makes her body and muzzle look longer than they actually look in person.

They don't have scales in the ring so don't worry...good thing too because not too many are within the range 8)
She looks fine and dandy to me! Have fun at the match.

She looks great weight wise, but love that reach of neck and nice strong pasterns! Relax and have fun with your lady!

She's adorable! I would love to see a photo of her at her level from the side...she looks like she has great angles and I agree- her reach of neck is lovely! What a cutie!

Oh, she is lovely. I think she is just right for her age ... it is not always "the bigger the better"
Have fun with her, and keep us posted !!

Thanks for all the nice comments about Sienna! She's really a wonderful dog. Everything else aside, her temperament is impeccable. I have a 17 month old son, and they are best friends already. It's quite amusing actually to watch them play together. She lets him lay on her, and cuddle and is very gentle with him. He likes to copy mommy, and makes Sienna stack and gives her treats. Too bad they don't have a baby junior handler category, lol.

I'll take some more pictures of her this weekend. I'm soooo excited for our first match!
