I had Jed in a show a few weeks ago and the first day he got another RWD and the 2nd day with the same dogs in his class, got a 3rd. So you can really see that there is no rhyme or reason, just what the judge prefers on a particular day!
We had our Lab Club's specialty this weekend and Jack pulled a 4th in BBE (not too good, there were 4 dogs in his class ). But Jed managed to get a 1st in his Open Chocolate class against a few other dogs. Sometimes I think judges just dismiss chocolates and when they just give out 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the same order you went into the ring, I DO wonder...Jed was 3rd in line and got pulled up to the 1st spot. I must have had the MOST shocked look on my face because I was sure that if the judge dumped Jack, she surely wouldn't like Jed. But what do you know! HA HA
Congratulations! Beautiful boys.
Congrats! That is awesome!
Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
Congratulations Jen! Both boys are so handsome. I am glad they are doing well. I totally understand about the judges on any given day. We had our local show (4 days) this past weekend and each judge with the labs seemed to have their own "process". It also seemed that they favored certain dogs when they were being shown by a "handler". I am a novice at understanding the judging process so it may just be my perception. I think the dogs being shown by their owners or the breeders have a much better chemistry though. You can just see it in the dog's face and the way they respond both inside and outside of the ring. We didn't have any chocolates and it made me wish you could have brought the boys down. I would love to give them a big smooch in person.
Love JL. Justlabradors.com!!!
Barb, one of these days I will make it down. Jed's finally winning, which was a criteria for me to consider traveling. Now if I could just pin down a permanent job and a steady income, I would start doing some planning. There are quite a few shows in NM between Albuquerque and your area.
