Hmm. I don't like cruises because I get seasick, gravol/dramamine knocks me out and I don't care for haute cuisine. Give me a good curry, pasta dish or pizza.

Places that I've been that I've liked:

Myrtle Beach, SC lots of shopping and mini-golf. Not sure about October weather.
San Diego, CA (well Del Mar). I think it's pretty expensive though.

I can't recommend Long Beach, CA. We stayed at a nice enough hotel, but were warned off going past a certain street after dark for fear of being mugged and/or shot. We took the train into LA in the middle of the day. I was the only white person on the train and my friend was the only Asian. We were sexually harassed on the way into LA by 2 punks. They moved on when my friend threatened to push the emergency stop button.

Depends what part of Long Beach, there are good parts and bad parts as there are with any city. I lived there for 14 years. That being said, I don't think of Long Beach as a vacation destination.

What about Santa Barbara or Monterey, Central Coast of California?

We actually just booked our cruise for the end of October. First stop Jamaica, Second stop Cayman Islands. I'm really excited!!!!

Cruises are so much fun! Jason's cousin will be lead singer on the Norwegian Spirit for the next six months (starting in April). He lives in California, and the cruise is out of New Orleans, so we have a trip planned. A family vacation this summer before Jason ships off for his one year+ deployment, and we'll also get to see his cousin's performance. I'm looking forward to it. I don't think any of you would regret a cruise (unless someone gets seasick).

I would love it if my labby would just ride in the car. Went to the vet this morning, and as usual she lost her breakfast. Six months now and it happens everytime. Any suggestions?

We just went on this cruise in march and it was amazing. Definitely always something to do and something to eat. We did a dune buggy adventure in Jamaica and that was a real eye opener. Grand cayman we went scuba diving and I would totally recommend it, it was beginners so it was only 40 feet deep. You will have a blast!
