Going to Mexico!

Flying into Cancun next Tuesday, and heading off to the Yucatan for two weeks - visiting Valladolid, Chitchen itza, Merida, Campeche, Celestun, & Isla Mujeres. Anyone else been? It'll be my first visit to this part of Mexico, and the first time taking the ADO bus between cities - I've taken inner-city buses in PV, but they're quite different. I'm tired of snow and cold, and looking forward to this!

OHHH that sounds fabulous, you lucky duck!

Must be nice to have the sweet toronto hook up... here in the prairies it costs so much to fly, since we're not a major centre. most people end up driving to calgary and flying out of there to save $$

Not going through Toronto - I avoid that like the plague! Luckily, WestJet has direct flights from Ottawa to Cancun this year. (Previous years, WestJet flew direct to PV.) I don't really like to fly, and prefer no stops!

WestJet doesn't fly out of Saskatchewan?

yeah we've gone thru toronto before and its insane!
But yeah WestJet flies out of Sask... the only problem is that the flights aren't direct, they always go Sask-Calgary-? or Sask-Toronto-? :S

Have a great time! What resort are you staying at? We went to the Mayan last year and stayed at the Bahia Principe Coba - very close to the Tulum Ruins and it's a great resort. Do you plan on doing any excursions? If you get a chance, you should try one of their ATV tours. I think it's a 2 or 3 hour excursion and you go through the jungle, but the highlight is that you stop at one of their Cenotes where you can go swimming - the water is crystal clear and just gorgeous and it's fresh water!

We're not actually staying at any resorts - just Mexican hotels in the various towns we're heading to. Only the last two nights are near Cancun, on Isla Mujeres. Our flight is at 6:15 a.m., so it'll be an early start tomorrow! We won't get to Tulum, but will see the ruins at Chitchen itza. And do some birding at Celestun, where there are lots of flamingos.
