What shoes have people found are good for travel?
Depends where you are going and what you are going to be doing - when we went to Greece, I work my Birkenstocks the entire time and took a pair of Mions for water days. If you are going to be swimming where there are sea urchins, etc. you'll want some shoes to protect your feet.
If you are hiking, you'll want runners, etc.
If you are just going to a beach for 7 days, I'd wear whatever shoes you normally wear, and take flipflops.

For lots of walking, I found the Easy Spirit walkers and travel shoes to be great. The Skechers exer-shoes would also be good for pounding pavement.

I got a pair of clark's mary janes that I lived in when we went to France. Going back to get ankle boots for our winter trip from them. They are amazingly comfortable and supportive.
