I've started basic clicker training with my 13 week old puppy! I've only clicked and been giving treats when he hears it, so far. I was wondering if this is a good training method for basic commands sit and down. Right now I just want to start undering standing the sit command. He starts puppy preschool in a week, so should I just wait for that or proceed with the clicker training?![]()
Keep it up! Just remember to keep sessions short and sweet for now
Leonidas is 10 weeks old and he has really responded to it, I would keep it up.
I just started this yesterday and Gauge (10 wks) has responded well! While we're training he sits without any "lure" or prompting so I know he gets the click and treat. He will also respond to a hand signal and hold the sit for around 20 seconds before click and treat. He got this from 2 short sessions yesterday and no prior training whatsoever. I am pleased so far.
Isn't it amazing how fast dogs learn and how willingly with clicker training.![]()
Keep going! It is such a great way to communicate with your pup that they are doing what you want. To prep for puppy school I would also work on getting his attention. If you say his name and he looks at you? Click and treat! Class is going to be very distracting so anything you can do to get him used to giving your attention will be a bonus.
Good luck!
