That is exactly our problem. It's almost as if she has to grab a load to of water in a hurry so she can drink it on the way back to us - but spills it everywhere! There is no way you can make a dog understand what 'messy' is - and I can't be bothered to make her sit by her bowl EVERY single time she has a drink!Originally Posted by curly
I'll just have to keep that mop handy!
I totally sympathize! We have an 18 month old daughter that has learned to watch for wet spots! I try to keep a mop within arms distance, but sometimes I miss it!
Looks like there is no way to avoid, but thanks for asking!

I keep a mop in the same area of the kitchen as Jack's bowl's he drinks so fast he takes half the bowl with him - I cant stand water spots on hardwood and wet socks* *
Drives me nuts - Good luck*![]()

I bought a plastic tray to put under Charlie's bowl with a lip on it to catch water. It also helps when he plays in the bowl too! Now trying to swim in the toilet is another issue!
I guess we could teach the dogs to mop!!!
Hey Curly - your chocolate Zakk is beautiful!

We tried a bowl riser to see if the added elevation would help, since the times he managed to sneak a drink out of the toilet, the bathroom floor was pretty dry, but no luck. Part of the problem is that our lab tends to hit the water bowl after romping around, you know - when their tongue is too big to fit in their heads, and that just exacerbates the spillage. Maybe they need to design doggy water bowls like toilets. ;D
