Default Puppy keeps peeing on her bed

So I bought my pup a beautiful pottery barn dog bed (I now realize this was a very dumb mistake and I should have waited until she was an adult) Needless to say when we first brought her home she often peed on or around the bed. We removed the bed and kept it away from her. She is now almost six months and rarely has an accident. We decided to bring the bed back out and keep it in our bedroom - it used to be in the living room. She loves her bed and spends a lot of time on it. It's been in the bedroom for a few weeks now and we haven't had a problem. However, yesterday we removed the cover to wash it and she went to the bathroom on the actual pillow part. I am wondering if she thinks the bed is some sort of a "puppy pad." We never used puppy pads but I can't imagine why she only likes to go to the bathroom on her bed. Do you think we need to just put the bed away and save it? Is there anyway to train her that she can absolutely not go to the bathroom on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

You need to thoroughly clean the foam pad with Natures Miracle to completely remove the urine smell or better yet, replace the foam pad.

We throughly cleaned it with natures miracle and ran it through the hand wash cycle in the washing machine. I am just wondering if there is a reason that she thinks its ok to pee on the bed? She loves it so I don't want to have to get rid of it.

The only thing I can think of is that you have not been able to completely remove the urine smell especially if she does not do this anywhere else in the house. If you think you have done everything possible to remove the urine smell your next best bet would be to replace the foam pad and see if that does the trick. Dogs rarely soil the area they sleep in so the smell still has to be there.

I think that there is a chance that she associated peeing with the bed so get her another of a different colour and size perhaps and keep the other as a back up for when she is older ?

That is a good thought also, I did not think of that!
