hi all,i have a 13 week old lab pup and he has had his first set of vaccinations and is due the next set in 2 weeks time ,
my vet has given me mixed messages about when he will be aloud out for a walk , i have been told not to walk him untill 2 weeks after his 2nd jab and then somone else said he can go out as soon as he has had the second injection ?
can anyone help me with this question
why hasn't the pup had more than 1 set at this point? At 13 weeks, 2 sets should have been administered, and you would be waiting on the 3rd. I would wait until 2 weeks after the second at this point.

It sounds like your pup got started on vaccines a little late. Is he a rescue? Anyway, I would wait till the third set of vaccines and about 10 days after for the shot to kick in. The only way to take the pup out earlier is if you have his blood tested to see what the titer is. Personally, I would wait. We took our girl to safe places, like my sister's enclosed back yard, and we had dogs over to play that we knew were vaccinated and safe. We have a fenced yard, so it was safe as well. I figure its always best to err on the side of caution. We need pictures! Be sure to post some![]()

yes he was a rescue , we only got him when he was nearly 12 weeks old and he had a worm infestation so decided to treat them and his ear infection before the jabs.
but thank you for the adice i will wait till after the second set ? i didnt know they had a 3rd. x
Dani is right about not letting your pup outside until after the second shots ! I know that some people favour socialising the puppies after 8 weeks but personally I would not take the chance,
I'm not sure which third injection Dani is referring to either as in the UK it's only two two weeks apart but it may be different in the US and Canada ?

vets shouldn't be giving mixed messages. it's a question, with a basic answer.
how old was the pup when you got him and did you bring him immediately to the vet?
in north america we give three rounds of shots (generally speaking) which is why they mentioned a third round. Sounds like that is not at all the case across the ocean![]()
No, here we only have the 2. One at 8 weeks and one at 10-12
Yep, we have three here in the states. Many vets even give a 4th parvo. I called my vet the other day, I was worried about Sophie needing a Lepto vaccine. I found out she had Lepto and a 4th parvo when she was 4 months. I was glad she was safe for lepto. We have had an outbreak among sea lions at the coast about 100 miles from here.

we have onlyhad digger 2 weeks and he is doing well , but was in a bad condition when we got him. took him to the vets and he was filed with worms , so we treated that and then he had an ear infection. after both have been treated the vet dont the 1st set of jabs and second set due 2 weeks late. i think i will defiantly keep him in until the second set are given then . thank you for all the advice x
