We have attended basic puppy training with Luna at Petco, and now are 3 weeks into another local training course at a nearby park. The trainer says she is still a puppy, her jumping doesn't seem a concern to him, but it is to me...she weighs 60 lbs, and can hurt someone. She gets so excited when we meet someone and they want to pet her. Trainer says keep treats in my hand, keep her attention on me. Short of walking around with pockets filled with treats, does anyone have advice?
We tether Sophie and cinch the leash up short. She is 9 months and 72 lbs, she still wants to jump on people when they come in my front door. She is getting better. We leash her when someone comes and I make her sit by me. Now, she will sit when told, even when she's excited, about half the time. It takes work and you just have to stick with it.

Bean is slowly getting better about jumping. He's so excited to see people! The leash is probably the best way. I'll stand on the end so that he doesn't have room to jump. But mostly, there's not enough time to get it on him before someone comes into the house.
When I tell people what they should do about the jumping, lots of them say "Oh it's OK, I don't mind." Drives me crazy.
Lately Bean has been running off to find his rope toy, which he'll bring to show the visitor. I think it's his way of redirecting his energy, since he doesn't jump when he's holding the rope.
Good luck, it seems like a tough behavior to overcome.
Zoe was a jumper. Our behaviorist said that Zoe has 2 options: (1) to sit; or (2) to sit.
As soon as your puppy even tries to jump, give the sit command. and treat!
It would be best to have your pup not even *think* about jumping.
Good luck. It worked for us.
