Hello! Our girl is wonderful and has been fairly easy to train, except for this couch issue. We have never sat on the couch while holding her but each time we sit or lay on the couch, she incessantly tries to jump up at us and grabs hold of anything she can in the process (blankets, sleeves, etc.) I continue to ward her off and tell her "OFF" in a loud voice. I even put her bed alongside the couch so she has a comfy place to lay down next to whoever is on the couch. Is this a matter of persistence and time? Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Thanks!
You're fighting a losing battle. Quit now before it's too late. Haven't you heard? Couches are made for Labs. Besides, there's usually plenty of room on the floor for the humans.

I know! There is one couch we will allow her on when she is able to get on/off safely on her own. It worked with our other lab and it is nice and cozy. I can't wait until I can let her in on the news...
Yeah, well....look how well the "off the couch" routine worked around here!

Furniture can be replaced but the time we have with our Labs is precious and too short. We use blankets to cover our furniture and pop them in the washer and dryer twice a week or so. He may be having a hard time figuring out why 1 couch is ok and the rest are not! (Or at least pretening to, lol!)

loving this thread, we too allow rosie on the sofa (unless we are eating). bless them all and love the pic of sophie all snuggled!!
Well, although I appreciate the responses I have received, I was really just looking for some solid advice. I get the whole dog on the couch thing-believe me-we don't believe we are "above" our pets but when you have 4 couches, the dog should not have free reign over all 4 of those couches. We love our dogs but we also have three human kids too. Pics are adorable but I am really just wanting some sound advice from a fellow lab owner-anyone.....anyone.....anyone.....?????
would love to offer so advice, but we too, lost that battle........

Never tried this, but how about giving her a treat every time she sits on her couch, and ignoring her when she uses the other couches?
