Found out week before last that my breeder's chocolate female "missed" again this heat. That's twice in a row... i'm kinda bummed. The good news is, hopefully she will "take" when she comes in heat around March which would give us a summer puppy... that's what we were aiming for last year. My son will be out of school for the summer and will have lots of bonding/training time with the pup.
In the meantime, our breeder will probably have a litter of blacks/yellows and I'm sure hoping I don't cave LOL... I know I'm not supposed to care what color our lab is, but I really really REALLY want a CHOCOLATE!
Im sorryI wouldnt be patient enough to wait for a puppy! I would be bouncy everyday
Hope they dont miss her heat next year and it takes.

Have you checked into other reputable breeders in your area? Our breeder was a 3 hr drive from us. When we picked Sophie up, she actually met us half way so we didn't have to drive so far. It might be worth checking around, especially if you are anxious for a new baby. If the female has missed twice, who's to say if she'll get pregnant in March.... There are TX members on here that might know of some great breeders there.

Well, that might be an option, except I have given her a deposit... and I really do love her dogs (and feel a connection with her, she's from my hometown).... but, if it doesn't take next time....
Usually breeders will refund a deposit if the heat is unsuccessful, or at least give the option of waiting till the next cycle. Does your breeder have another female that might have a cycle sooner?
