Was wondering when I should bath my puppy..
We bathed Sophie at about 10 weeks. Labs don't need many baths. It can dry their skin. I didn't use a flea shampoo, I used a mild doggy shampoo. She loves water but doesn't much like a bath. We bathed her the first time in the sink. Now we put her in the shower with a hand held nozzle. She will fight us going in, but once in there likes it. I think maybe she just doesn't like the enclosed space. She has a kiddie pool and loves it. We only bathe Sophie when she gets into something icky, like the poop (yuck) she got on her at her walk last week.

We were having this discussion last night and i believed you maybe shouldnt bath your puppy (unless they got poop on them) but my other half said we should bathe her......i think it would be fun trying tee hee
Why not just let her romp in the bathtub? My Nellie is over 11 and has only had one bath her entire life.

Not until they absolutely need a bath. But if you are going to have to bath the dog in the tub (washroom) it would be a good idea to put her in there and give her treats in hopes of her thinking this is a good place. Maybe just a few seconds, treats, and then out. Then longer. Eventually turn on thap (keep her dry). All this would be in hopes that the first bath goes smoothly
Labs are rinse and go dogs. They can be rinsed off with water as often as required but best to leave soap out of the equation until they need it. Rocky gets maybe 1-2 a year (maybe) and he is an indoor dog (I live in an apt)
Are there any Lab safe shampoos out there for these in-frequent baths? My understanding is that soap is a no go for a Labs coat.
