Thought my pup was crate trained???

So my 4 1/2 month old lab had been sick on Sat and Sun night. Sat night he barked to let me know he had to go. I would run him out and he would do his business. Sunday night, I think it was coming so quickly he didn't know what to do and had 2 accidents in him crate. Monday he was all pooped out and today he had a normal looking stool. Just as I was reading some of the post I had him in his crate ready for bed and he tried to stand up and poop. Do you think this was because he was sick and had an accident and now thinks it's ok? I ended up seeing him and running him outside. He went to his spot and did his business. It was a little softer than this afternoon, but he seemed to have plenty of time to let me know to take him out. Do I go back to training him as if he just came to the house? Any idea on what to do??

I read in your other post about your dog's rashy inner thighs....now I see he is having gastric problems. If he has bumps on the outside, he could have them inside as well. It sure could be a food allergy. I would change to grain free and a protein he hasn't had before. Our vet said that the usual allergy triggers are grains, chicken and lamb.
