    Default Chewing and walking help?

As a puppy Tilly obviously loves to chew whatever she can get her jaws on! I read in a book that if she bites you to yelp out, like another dog would if hurt. I tried this and at first it seemed to be working but now she completely ignores it and carries on. Any suggestions on what I can do to break her chewing habit? Do I carry on as I am or do I try something else?

Also I went to my vets today and Tilly had her 2nd injection (she was a very good girl) and I thought I would check by asking if it was 2 weeks before she could go out for her first walk and he said that I only had to wait one week. But when I look online it tells me to wait two weeks. What would you all suggest?

I would not take her any where outside of your own yard until she has the 3rd and final set of shots.
I hold the muzzle of my puppy and say "don't bite", I try not to use the word "no" as it is all I would say all day long. I also replace what ever Maxx is trying to chew with something appropriate to chew on. I keep pieces of "bully sticks" everywhere because they are his favorite and he is always willing to trade for one. Luckily they don't seem to get boring for him **knock wood**. Tennis balls work also, anything you can find that your puppy really likes to divert the attention from the bad behavior you are trying to correct.

She has had all her injections the next one is her booster :/ is it different in different countries or am I getting confused. Here (UK) they have 2 and then a booster in a year every year.
I also change it for a toy or chew but it doesnt hold her attention for long.

I am not sure if it is different, in the US they get a series of 3 injections, 4 weeks apart and then annual boosters. I am so sorry if I confused you. Unfortunately their attention span is not very long, is she getting enough time outside in your yard to get rid of her energy?

The method of putting our hand over her muzzle and commanding "Don't Bite!" worked for us. It took about a month or so. Sophie quit (thank goodness!) at about 3 months. You have to issue the command every time she bites. Don't let her slide now and then, it confuses her. Those little needle sharp teeth are killer! As far as taking her out, wait till she has had her 3rd set of shots. Also, I hope you have been holding her at the vet, the floor is full of germs from sick animals.

She goes out often but doesnt seem very interested in staying out, but she has a lot of play time inside, she has two westies to chase and play fight with and we play with her as much as possible. Its then that she chews, she loves being near us and always instantly goes to chew. I have found that getting a treat and telling her to sit gets her attention! I dont know whether to try that or keep up what I am doing or whether to try both. But I dont want to confuse her!

Sorry for getting confused. I just want to make sure I am doing everything right for her

Hand on the muzzle.....DON'T BITE! will work, just keep at it, it will take a month or so.

Thanks I will give it a go! I didn't expect it to stop so quickly, I was just worried that it had stopped working completely. Glad I have something else to try!
Sophiesmama do you know if vaccinations are different in the US and the UK? As here I have been told she only has 2 injections and then boosters.

I just checked with my parents and my other dogs only had 2 as well (I have a rubbish memory so I cant remember it was toooo long ago!) and my vet said she can go out in a week so shes had all the ones before her booster. Must depend on where you live I just dont know whether to wait one or two weeks!

If I remeber correctly we waited 10 - 14 days after Emma, (who is now 4 yrs. old now!), had her final set of shots before we took her outside of our yard. I tend to be over cautious though, better safe than sorry.
