When I got Tessa she nipped our fingers, and clothes. She has replaced that with licking people. It isn't that odd lick they do from time to time, it is a constant thing.
She will become fixated with one person and lick them. I put her out and when she comes back in goes straight to that person and does it again. I have tried putting her on a lead, and reminding her not to, but doesn't seem to work. She will walk past us and lick our hands, or jeans. She doesn't lick Erns.
I am sure it is she is so happy to see us, but people are finding it irritating and don't want her near them, which isn't what I want. She is a happy friendly wee dog so don't want her to change because people wont go close to her.
Any suggestions what to do, or anyone had a dog that has done this.

Wyatt is a "kisser" too. He loves to lick everyone, especially people who seem less than interested in him. We try "leave it" with those who don't appreciate it and it seems to work. Our last dog, Jake, did not give many kisses, so it surprised us a bit. My husband always says we should have named him "McLovin."

Ralphie is a licker. He's the same way...the constant licking, which I think he thinks is a nice thing but most people find very irritating. We taught ' no lick ' which is a more specific 'leave it'. We moved him, grabbed both sides of his face and said NO LICK and if he looked back at the person he was licking without starting to lick again he got a good no lick, good boy! It usually works. He might sneak in a random lick, but no more constant licking.
We have been trying the no lick. Maybe just keep at it and she will get better. Often I don't see her do it.
She will stand beside someone - even at the dog park- and lick the side of their leg, or sleeve until they are wet. I stop her before this, but one day I didn't see her under the table and a friend didn't like to tell me she was doing it. Kept licking her shoe, and her sock was all wet.
It is an OCD licking, not a kissing lick. If that sounds right.

That's Ralphie. If I let him he'll lick my feet an hour. It took over a year for him to catch on...but he's not the brightest pug around. Lovable...but not bright. Lol.
This is Bauer! He loves to lick my feet and legs. He will lick other people, but not everyone. I have a couple of friends that he will lick and lick too. I use "enough", but I use that for a lot of stuff. "Enough" in a firm voice means stop whatever you are doing, and he stops. Then I re-direct him by telling him to go get his "baby" (his stuffed monkey that he also licks) or just telling him to "go lay down" which means go to your bed and stay there. He is very good about stopping, but it is annoying when he starts.

Debi go get his baby and licking it sounds so cute.
I have been telling Tessa to get her toy. She stuffs it into her mouth and sucks it.
When I googgled some sites said Pugs do this.
Thanks for the help. I didn't want to go down the wrong path, so will keep redirecting her and stopping her.
