My lab pup just turned 5 months and we walk everyday. I just wanted to know how long should these walks be?
the rule of thumb is about 5 minutes per month of age but depend on the dog you can round up abit - but 25-30 minutes if you are not doing a power walk (i.e. laid back walk, maybe some stops). if you can stick to softer surfaces (i.e. not pavement) all the better.
do note that "walks" are great to include for training and mental stimulation but are not exercise that tire out a young dog.
Thanks for the help! Will make sure scout gets the best amount of exercise
agree with Tanya. i take them time to do some obedience training here and there. like When i stop my dogs have to stop at my side before we walk again. Sometimes i have them lay down at my feet. i was so consistant now they know when to either sit or lay down.
