We have a 5 month old lab puppy , he is 67lbs. we take him for a walk twice a day , his morning walk goes fine but the evening walk is fine through almost all of it until we are a block or two from home , then he becomes very agitated , he tries to run every direction and if you get too close he has a very vicious sounding bark and tries to jump on you , I don't understand why he is doing this, any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU, BOOMER
Is there any other dogs barking to make him aggitated?

Perhaps he doesn't want to go home, and wants a longer walk (a 5 month old puppy needs a lot of exercise)!

No barking dogs where he does it, earlier in the walk there is but he ignores them. It could be that he just wants to go further , we judge his distance depending on the temps, we've had a lot of 90's lately he usually goes between 1 and 2 miles, when it's really hot we do just one mile. He loves walking and he's a real sweetie . He also gets excercise playing in the yard with balls . Thank you boomer
I would try a different route and see if he still does it.

You might try 30 minutes of fetch before you go on the walk - then he may have the edge off of his energy level and may behave better.
Have you tried a puppy k class or beginning obedience?
Sharon - still not a dude.
Thanks for all the tips , tonight we tried playing in the yard with him first and then we changed the route and he was fine . thank you all boomer
I would actually try shortening the walks as I have found my current pup and my 1st dog when he was a pup would act up when they got tired.
Puppy classes ?
