I have a 10 month old yellow lab. She is quite adorable and yet quite a diva. When no one is in the store she's a "perfect" angel and does normal puppy stuff. She has learned that when the door rings when opened people are coming in. She loves to visit and for the "most part" she doesn't jump on people, except for a select few who she has known since she was a pup or they play aggressive with her. As soon as I wait on a customer she looks for stuff to steal off the shelf to shread or just to taunt and have me embarass myself as I go chase her. She can on occasion show an agressive side. My last lab never showed her teeth. I was bit in the face when I was little and cannot have that attitude. She normally does this when she is told "no" hince her diva tittle or she gets wound up. How best can I stop the barking and mostly the snarling, plus the stealing. I've tried tying her up. Telling her no. I've used a water spray bottle which only rials her up more. I've tried tapping her on her nose when she steals (which I HATE) and she'll turn her head and continue to do it every time. She's a good dog, but knows that she is pushing the limits.
Can you train her to greet the customer and then go into her crate? (I guess anything can be trainedYou can put up a sign so the customers will know what you are trying to do and not get in the way of the training. Spike steals too - Trainer says when we get it from him (he lets go) he should get a "goodboy" click instead of yelling at him and strangely enough that works
