Just for the folks that are going to see this resurected thread....Bare minimum clearances on labs for breeding are Hips, Elbows and annual CERF exams.
Folks are doing hearts, PRA (eye test), EIC and CNM - especially the last two as they are prevalent in the hunting lines.
Please do not support breeders that cut corners. And do not support breeders that breed non-standard colors.
I see by the date this has long ago been decided, but we have two labs from Tidewater Retrievers and have become good friends with Deb and Roy Schalla. Our girls are totally different, Maggie is six and the smartest dog you would ever meet. Stella is 11 months, very vocal learning fast an keeps us on our toes, ha.
They don't seem to test for hearts (TVD is a problem in our breed). There are plenty of lab breeders in So. Cal that breed show dogs that can hunt! DUAL PURPOSE the way it was meant to be. Contact Landsend Labradors and see if they can refer you on to someone with puppies.
