Roxy woke up again with diarrhea, before it was more like loose stools but now is diarrhea. I took her to the vet on thursday and on Friday they call with the results from a poop sample. No worms or parasites. Since on thrusday was just kind of loose stools the vet didn't want to give any meds. My concern is that the office is close today, I will be calling to take her tomorrow again to vet. But I'm worry, what could be making her sick? She adjusted well to her food actually no signs of allergies to the food...any idea what can make a healthy growing puppy get sick all of sudden???

She has been with us for a little more then 3 weeks. On her 1st vet visit she was 36.2 lbs, two weeks later on Thursday she was almost 41 lbs so she is growing. I actually thought that she was king of overweight but vet thinks that since she has huge paws for her age she might be a big girl. She said that if at some point after she has done her growing she will consider cutting a little bit on food but no now because she needs it to grow healthy.

    Any advice...thanks

Did you change the food she is eating from what the breeder was feeding her? When we got Sophie, we bought the same brand puppy food so that we wouldn't take a chance on gastric upset. Try giving her plain yogurt. The enzymes in the yogurt are good for puppy's digestion. We give Sophie yogurt and she loves it! Does your pup still have a good appetite? You can feed her boiled chicken and rice. Vets often have pups on it when they aren't feeling well. Make sure she is staying hydrated. Pay attention to her water bowl and make sure it looks like she is drinking plenty. Good thought are coming your way....I know how it is, I worry all the time...

I did change her her food but we went through adjusting time the first week by the second week she was on Eukannuba only and it didn't have no bad reaction. The loose stools and diarrhea just happen on thursday. She always trys to eat everything that finds on the floor, like worms, leaves, what ever we stop her but at times we are not successful. Oh and about appetite she is always hungry

Thanks so much for the yogurt idea I'm going to ask the vet and try it, I do that for my son when he gets sick from his tummy.

My puppy has a very sensitive digestion, and it doesn't take much for diarrhea to start. Try eliminating any treats you are giving. They may contain something that is causing diarrhea. It took me quite a while to find a food that Bean does well on. Plain boiled white rice for a day or two will give the puppy's belly a rest. Then you can slowly add in kibble.

Also, giving too much food can cause diarrhea. That happened to my dog a couple days ago. I didn't know that he'd already been fed by my daughter, so he ate too much and had loose poop.

There are so many factors that can cause a puppy to have brief periods of diarrhea it can be tough to pinpoint exactly what it might be. What I do is make sure I haven't added anything new to the diet, if I have I stop it and then wait for a day to see if the diarrhea stops. I usually never add anything new to stop it unless it's from the Vet.

Diet isn't the only thing that can cause diarrhea, especially when the dog has just moved into a new home. Has anything changed with Roxy's daily schedule such as walks/exercise/feeding times etc?

Personally I would remain vigilant but I wouldn't worry too much unless it goes on longer than 2 days, but that's just me...

Thanks so much guys for the good advices. I guess that I panick too easy. You see I lost my doggie almost ago. She NEVER got sick and the day that she got sick it was too late she was diagnosed with Cancer in her Jaw. So now I over look at everything with Roxy. She had that only one episode of diarrhea then the next morning she was fine So I didn't have to call the vet. And she has an appointment on Thursday for her last set of shoots so I will mention what happen.

At least I'm happy that she is doing good and no more diarrhea since the other night!

Again thanks for all the info, I will keep all these advices in mind =)
