Hi ive got a now 13 week and a bit black lab. Quite a few people have comented on how 'quiet' he is for a puppy. He's very sweet he does like playing and will play fetch and walks along side me up the fields-stays near me when hes off the lead. Hes very easy to train will sit, lie down and give paw on command and is house trained. He does sleep quite alot after hes had a little walk or play. He seems happy and is a healthy weight. im just a bit worried as everyone who meets him seems to comment on how relaxed and quiet he is. He's also very clingy to me and follows me everywhere-if i go upstairs (where hes not aloud to go) he will cry untill i come back-is this normal puppy behaviour? Ive never had a lab before so im not sure if they are usually a bit more hyperactive or do they all have different temprements. thanks for any comments
Sounds like you have a perfectly normal, docile lab. Dogs and puppies do sleep a lot but usually bounce right up if you offer them some action. Some are just mellow from the start - my last one was like that. Others, like my ten month old I have now, are a bit rowdier. And yes they will follow you everywhere - velcro puppies.
My Lola was a very mellow, calm and easy puppy.....until she hit 1. Enjoy it now, while it lasts![]()
thanks for the replies, has put my mind at rest! he's the perfect lil pup but something tells me he'll cause some mischeif when hes older![]()
my boy was so mellow that even the vet thought it was odd. it's who he is so far. i have been told to be grateful! he turns on the energy when in water and around other dogs to play. otherwise a very laid back sweet boy, hopefully that will never change. he is now 8 months old.
Bentley was very mellow when I got him from the pound then when he came out of his shell. I know want to rip my hair out most the time. While Tank has been more velcro and gives me the look of "What can I do know?". Enjoy it while it lasts![]()

Dogs, like people, vary in temperament and energy level. If you have a more mellow puppy - that's a good thing in my book!
Sharon - still not a dude.
